Paint Colour Concepts: What AI Can and Cannot Preview

Product update — September 2026: Paint colour concepts are experimental and have been removed from our main tool lineup. The existing page remains available for exploration, but it is not a finished paint-matching tool.

What a colour concept can show

An AI edit can suggest how a colour might feel on a wall, fence, door or trim in your photo. You can describe the target surface and enter a colour name or hex value. The result is an approximate visual concept.

The AI may change surrounding details, textures or edges even when asked to preserve them. A colour code in a prompt does not guarantee that the generated pixels or a physical painted surface will match it.

What the current feature does not provide

Reimagine Your Yard does not currently offer a paint-brand catalogue, calibrated colour matching, augmented-reality paint preview or a user-controlled surface mask in this flow. It should not replace test patches or physical samples.

Check a sample in the actual room or outdoor setting, in daylight and under the lighting you normally use. Surface texture, existing colour, finish and screen settings can all change the appearance. Use the AI concept to narrow down ideas, then verify the real paint.

Two main tools for different jobs

• Design Studio covers Landscape, Exterior and Interior concepts. Select Interior, then Furnish an empty room, when you want the AI to choose furniture and decor for a sparse space.
• Product Visualiser uses two photos: your space and a specific product. Use it to explore a particular item rather than ask the AI to invent a furnished room.

Both produce AI concepts that need checking for unintended changes. Product placement is not a guarantee of measured fit.

Where to find experimental paint concepts

The experimental paint page explains the limitations and links to the retained colour flow. Choose the surface, describe what should remain, and treat the output as inspiration. Generation uses the normal credit system; it is not an unlimited free paint service.

3D Preview is a separate result feature

Completed designs include a free depth preview from the original viewpoint. It does not reconstruct hidden surfaces or provide reliable measurements. A separate generated true 3D walkthrough costs 5 credits and is available after a credit purchase.

Start with Design Studio for a broader redesign, or Product Visualiser to try a specific item. For paint decisions, finish with a physical sample.
